Cute Baby Halloween Costumes

Halloween is almost here, and that means our favorite thing: babies in costumes! We look forward to this every year. We’ve compiled a list of my favorite options to help you find the best costume for your little monster (heh, get it?).

Before You Start!

  • Make sure the costume is safe

Costumes should be age appropriate! Walking children should be able to explore safely in their costume, while younger children should have costumes free of choking hazards. Things sewn onto costumes, like sequins or accessories, can always come off— make sure they’re securely attached, or remove them before wear. Infants can have costumes that attach to their carrier, or simply be swaddled— like a burrito!

  • Make sure the costume fits you and your baby’s needs!

Different babies need different things! Pick a carrier costume if you plan on spending Halloween with a baby that needs to be carried. Or, choose a swaddling costume for a baby in a stroller! The temperature of the costume is important too– if you’re going trick-or-treating, remember that it will likely be a cool evening out. If you plan on saving this costume for a future sibling or for dress up, don’t forget to check the washing instructions– whether it's sticky fingers, milk, or dirt, this costume will probably need a wash before it gets worn again.

  • Comfort

This excessively cute baby has a costume that works for crawling, but not for walking— there’s no grips on the feet!

Make sure the costume isn't too tight or restrictive; if your baby can't move freely in it, they may get frustrated. Look for seams that could rub against your little one's skin. The last thing you want is for them to be uncomfortable on their first trip out trick-or-treating!

So many cute costumes, so little time!

This adorable pumpkin can definitely move freely— look at that smile!

This tiny baby is dressed as a monkey! This costume could be part of a Curious George family costume— all you need is a yellow hat!

Twins can mix or match! All the better to trick or treat.

No need to ‘dress your age’ on Halloween. For added effect, you can craft a tiny walker to go along with the costume— it’s a little cheeky, but always a hit!

Create a buzz by adding little flower antennae to your baby’s bee costume! Match them by dressing up, or by asking your partner to call you ‘honey’ all evening.

This costume gets bonus points if the child is scooting, crawling, or wiggling. It’s so cute!

Baby elephant: a costume so cute, it will cause a stampede at any party!

Feed your baby some strawberries to get the full vampire effect!

What do you mean, we already mentioned monkeys? All I can see is these all those tiny toes!

This costume is especially cute on extra chubby babies, who look a little bit like they have no bones because they’re so soft and round!

Use a mermaid blanket to make a perfect stroller costume for a sleeping baby!

There are so many options! We hope you found some inspiration— we had a blast looking at all these cute babies. Feel free to tag us on Instagram (@brilliantbirths) and show us your cute costumes.

Have a great Halloween!
