Community Support Groups

We all know it takes a village. Join other parents to connect and grow.

Brilliant Births is excited to introduce new series and workshops for pregnant people and individuals who are looking for community and learning more. Bond, prepare, and grow with a cohort of others with similar due dates and newborn ages. We strive to ensure a safe, confidential, and welcoming space to share your feelings and experiences as your body changes and as you care for a new tiny human. We encourage judgement-free dialogue, information and resource sharing, and new ways of coping so that we can all better understand ourselves through the insight of others.

POSTPARTUM COMMUNITY SUPPORT CIRCLE

Our online postpartum support group provides a space for safe, confidential conversation with other recently postpartum individuals. In a non-judgmental atmosphere, we come together and share what we are going through in order to heal and offer support to others. Topics of conversation include adjusting to life with a newborn, birth story processing, navigating postpartum emotions, going back to work, travel with your baby, sleep issues, and more. This group provides an opportunity to usher in this new period of life, develop coping skills, and grow in confidence as a new parent.

Infants newborn to 12 months welcome!

Fridays from 11am - 12pm on Zoom

6 week cohorts; last meeting in-person

 Meet the facilitators

  • Jess Garman is a perinatal mental health therapist specializing in the emotional and psychological transitions of pregnancy and early parenthood. Trained in EMDR and perinatal mental health, she helps parents navigate identity shifts, anxiety, and relationship changes. As a parent of two young children, she understands firsthand how transformative this stage can be. Jess offers individual and couples therapy in person (Lafayette) and virtually.

  • Keira comes to the birth world after a career in public health and social services research, evaluation, and consulting. That work also focused on supporting people as they navigate life transitions, social challenges, and the systems and institutions that support us as we all move through these moments. She has a passion for deep learning and listening, connecting to people, building communities, and being an advocate and a resource.

Keira is also a parent to two young people who are heading off to college, which inspired a search for change and a return to pursuing a passion for women’s health and empowered birth. She is grateful for the support, opportunities, and connections made during her own pregnancy, birth, and early child-rearing years. She now enjoys helping others find the connections, information and support they need to build their confidence, make decisions, grow, and thrive as they build their family.

Keira has a Masters in Public Health. She trained as a birth, postpartum, and full spectrum doula with Cornerstone. She is also a certified Cornerstone and Hypnobirthing Childbirth Educator. She also just started additional training as a lactation counselor!

When not teaching, learning, supporting births or helping families postpartum, Keira is a mountain bike coach for the Berkeley High School team, grows veggies and keeps chickens in her backyard, sings and dances with MoTor Dance, and gets into the mountainous backcountry (on ski wheels, or on foot) as often as she can with her partner, two kids and friends.
